Kevin
I cannot explain the happiness in my sadness,
As time has come to really set you free.
You have grown not too far…
And you venture quite distant.
Your sis and I worry, as we are also happy.
For your decision to live far away.
Migrations are never quite easy.
It’s like starting something you are quite unsure of.
I remember the once rambunctious little boy,
the little boy whose smile’s put smiles on our faces.
The little boy who enjoyed being a little boy.
The boyishness that shrunk any and all weariness..
That little time when I had to take away something of yours,
short of breaking it, I never did have the heart to do so…
At that point I knew breaking it would break whatever else
was close between us as father and son.
Then after the little boy turned young adult,
I began seeing lesser of you.
I began feeling less and less important in your life.
And I would count the days of your replies.
It reached a point, I almost forgot…
But something inside wouldn’t let me.
Something always reminded me of our bond.
Something always said to me not to let go.
As you now embark on this your journey,
I am sad as I am happy..
I am sad because you are now finally fleeing the coup.
I am happy as I might have done something good for once.
Be who you want to be, as I before you have done,
go and trek your own destiny.. clear your own path…
move forward.. I love you son.. As much as I love your sister…
Just never forget to remember us…
As time has come to really set you free.
You have grown not too far…
And you venture quite distant.
Your sis and I worry, as we are also happy.
