Memories

As we grow older,
we try go back and collect those bits of memories
we cherished along the way, those things that remind us
of our long and tiring journey.

Nearing completion we realize that certain sadness
of how we can never immortalize any of our favorite songs,
our best friends of each episode in our life,
those times we cried or the times we were happy.
Those faces that came and went, those lonely conversations
and even those times you had all by yourself.

Part of this sadness is that this collection of our memories
can never and will never be part of someone else’.
That when it is finally time for us to go,
we can be sure that no one will ever look after or care for
whatever it is we had wanted people to remember us by.

And after the time we have gone,
together with all those worldly stuff of memories, we too,
like them will eventually disappear and no one
would ever think twice about our former existence,
except maybe to ask who that person was in a photo.
