you were my first step into grandfatherhood.
Unlike your mother, I did not know how to approach
My first grandchild since you had your own set of
parents and this came with a different set of protocols.
Having a grandchild for the first time was
unique, it also meant you came with a different
extended family.
Mayumi,
you were the fairest one in my eyes,
yet you were the least that I saw,
sad to say you were kept from us.
You have grown into someone I had to be
careful with, I dared not think about
your personality because of the quirk,
not to worry, you are one of my own and
I love you for who and what you are.
Maria Malaya,
you started out as one cute baby, very much
like your sisters, but as you grew,
It is unfortunate that I have to say that your
the great semblance to your mother was a sign
from God that he still loved me and that he brought
you into this world to remind me of my cute
little girl (that was your mom).
Maximus,
You are the rose among thorns,
may your innocence be with you always,
and may we experience further the person
behind those eyes that are so elusive.
May we experience the person, the kid and
hopefully the man…
With these four additional gifts, I always pray
for all of your health and wisdom. And that
you will always remember me when I am gone,
maybe and at least until you have your own families…
